A Bit About Me

I started my journalism career in my home state of Alabama. I attended Troy University where I graduated in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism while working at WDHN in Dothan, Alabama. In 2020, I graduated from Troy University again, this time, with a master's degree in strategic communication.

In April 2022, my husband and I packed up our things and moved from Colorado to Knoxville, Tennessee. We are both in the journalism industry and are enjoying everything the Smokies have to offer.

I love telling other people's stories, but most of all, I enjoy helping people. If a story can provide assistance or aid to someone who needs it, then I feel as though I have done my job. I am a team-player and believe success only comes when people work together.

In addition, I love to learn and am always looking for opportunities to further my education. Be it through hands-on training, webinars, seminars, or simply talking to other professionals, I want to be challenged and provided constructive criticism.

Multimedia Journalist
WDHN | Dothan, AL
Jan. 2019 - June 2021

I anchor WATE’s Good Morning Tennessee (GMT) four hour-long shows on Saturday and Sunday mornings and report the news of the day Monday through Wednesday.

I review and edit scripts, search for any developing news, and approve rundowns. I also anchor and communicate with my producers/directors, my co-anchor, and our meteorologist.

In addition, I search for and present original story ideas, interview subjects, craft packages, and front my content live.

I produced and anchored FOX21's Weekend Morning News. Although local news was my main focus, I also gathered state and national news from sister stations and Extreme Reach. During the show, I continued producing while anchoring. I was in charge of timing and rearranging/killing stories to ensure we ended the broadcast on time.

Not only did I report for broadcast purposes, I also worked as a digital producer. I monitored social media channels and posted enterprise stories in order to keep the station's website and social media accounts updated and filled with fresh content. In addition, I promoted on-air talent and helped reporters format their stories for digital mediums.

During the PM shift, I was in charge of the newsroom. I assigned reporters during breaking news, led postmortem meetings, edited reporters' scripts, and served as liaison to the news director. I also gave final approval over the rundowns.

I anchored WDHN's 5, 6, and 10 o'clock broadcasts. I also filled in for our sister station, FOX34's 9 o'clock broadcast. I presented the news in a clear, concise, and easy-to-understand manner. In addition, I edited scripts, reviewed graphics, and conducted live and prerecorded interviews. I also edited video, wrote and tracked scripts, and executed live shots in the field.

I covered stories within the Wiregrass area and panhandle. Duties included finding and pitching enterprise story ideas, interviewing subjects, filming and editing video, writing and tracking scripts, as well as executing live shots in the field.
